Plateau to Build 55 Secondary Schools

Plateau Government to Build 55 Secondary Schools

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has given contracts to build 55 new secondary schools in Plateau State to improve student learning.

At the contract signing event at the Twin Theatre, New Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, Governor Mutfwang said it was a key milestone in his administration’s educational infrastructure transformation.

The Governor highlighted that the new schools must satisfy worldwide standards and inspire future education. The World Bank-funded Plateau State Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project improves learning environments, specifically for female empowerment.

Governor Mutfwang told contractors to work hard and follow the deadlines and standards, with strict oversight. He said, “We will ensure these projects meet the highest standards. Our supervision methods will be top-notch since we wish to pioneer this endeavor. We must impress the World Bank staff when they evaluate us.”

Governor Mutfwang reminded contractors that these projects are not free giveaways and highlighted responsibility and quality in their implementation.

Mohammed Nyalun, Commissioner for Secondary Education, thanked the World Bank, the Federal Government, and Governor Mutfwang for making this project a reality, emphasizing that it is a crucial step toward providing every Plateau State child with a conducive learning environment.

Shirinkpo Maina, AGILE Plateau State project coordinator, explained that 35 Junior Secondary Schools and 20 Senior Secondary Schools will provide inclusive, quality education to all children, regardless of background.

This World Bank-supported effort transforms Plateau State’s educational infrastructure and shows the government’s commitment to improving education.
