The University of Calabar (UNICAL) suspended lecturer Joseph Akpan for suspected misbehaviour.
Prof. Florence Obi, the Vice-Chancellor of the school, said this on Wednesday in Calabar.
The suspended lecturer allegedly manipulated 235 examination result scripts by using his authoritative role as Head of Department (HOD) of Pharmacology.
She said that as Head of Department, Akpan modified the scores in 235 out of the 242 result scripts assigned to him.
The Vice Chancellor stated that Akpan confessed to the misbehavior before the Senate Examination Misbehavior Committee (SEMC).
She claims that the lecturer purportedly confessed to augmenting the scores of students in PHM 311 to save the department’s reputation, a stance that management deems absurd and intolerable.
