Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has announced the appointment of Barrister (Mrs) Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike as the new Registrar.
Previously with the Registry Department at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Barr. Nwokike topped the selection process with a score of 764, surpassing her nearest competitors, who scored 500 and 480.
Out of thirteen applicants, ten attended the interview, led by Pro Chancellor and Governing Council Chairman Barr. Greg O. Mbadiwe.
In announcing the results, the Pro Chancellor underscored the merit-based selection process, officially appointing Barr. Nwokike as Registrar.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Carol Arinze Umobi, commended the panelists, including Gen Funsho Oyeneyin (Rtd), Hon Hafiz Oladepo, Hon Chief Augustine Onyedebelu, Prof. Kenneth Ngwoke, Prof. Anthony Okoye, and Engr. Dr. Paul Okolie, along with the University Registry staff for their dedication.
Representatives from the Federal Character Commission, Mr. Chinwuba Emmanuel Emeke and Mrs. Nwankwo Patricia, lauded the transparency and promptness of the selection process.
During a brief ceremony, the Pro Chancellor formally presented Barr. Nwokike with her appointment letter.
Her tenure, effective October 23, 2024, will run for a non-renewable five-year term, with responsibilities including overseeing daily university operations under the Vice Chancellor’s supervision.
