NECO Confirms Full Payment to 72,138 Examiners for 2024 SSCE

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the successful completion of allowance payments to the 72,138 examiners who served as ad hoc staff for the 2024 School-Based Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

In a statement released on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, by Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, NECO confirmed that payments began on October 4, 2024, on a bank-by-bank basis to ensure a smooth payment process.

The Council explained that this approach facilitated easier reconciliation with the 24 banks involved, leading to the full disbursement of funds to all examiners as planned.

NECO addressed concerns over delays, stating that some examiners initially provided incorrect bank details, which caused minor setbacks but have since been corrected.

The Council assured that all payments are now complete, dismissing as false the social media allegations that it had deliberately withheld payments to examiners.

The Council reiterated its commitment to supporting its examiners and ad hoc staff, appreciating their invaluable contributions to the successful conduct of its examinations.
