Following a result verification process showing their use of fictitious National Diploma (ND) credentials for admittance into the HND program, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) is scheduled to dismiss 49 Higher National Diploma (HND) final-year students.
Reports state that the two-batch verification list of the polytechnic found students from Mass Communication, Pharmaceutical Technology, Marketing, Science Laboratory Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Accountancy among other departments who had turned in falsified results.
Allegedly obtained from institutions including The Polytechnic, Ibadan, The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, and Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State, some of the bogus certificates.
Yemi Ajibola, the public relations officer of the polytechnic, clarified that the institution’s dedication to guarantee the validity of students’ credentials includes the verification procedure. Ajibola underlined that the strict verification process, which revealed the bogus entries, caused delays in the result publication.
“Every student’s outcome is verified internally by our systems. While some results have been confirmed as phoney, others remain unverified since the issuing authorities have not yet acknowledged them, Ajibola said. Notwithstanding the results, the university has reassured impacted students that they would be allowed to defend their performance prior to any last-stage disciplinary action. This action highlights MAPOLY’s commitment to equity and respect of academic integrity.
