
After a fruitful tripartite meeting with the Ministry of Tertiary Education and the University Management, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) at Taraba State University has called off its indefinite strike and directed its members to resume work right once.
The prolonged strike by Taraba State University’s Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has been formally called off.
All members have been told by the union to report back to work right away.
The decision was made after a careful examination of a Memorandum of Action (MoA) that was finalised during a tripartite meeting on Saturday, January 25, 2025, which included representatives from the Ministry of Tertiary Education, the University Management, and SSANU, according to a statement issued after an emergency congress and signed by Chairperson Comrade Bitrus Joseph Ajibauka and Secretary Comrade Mamki Joshua Atein.
In response to the union’s requests, which sparked the strike that started on December 9, 2024, the union thanked the University Management, Governor Agbu Kefas, and the Commissioner for the Ministry of Tertiary Education in Taraba State.
“After closely reviewing the MoA from the most recent tripartite meeting, we have decided to immediately stop our indefinite strike action. It is requested that all members return to duty immediately.We thank the University Management, Governor Agbu Kefas, and the Commissioner for the Ministry of Tertiary Education for their assistance in resolving our problems during the December 9, 2024, start of the strike.
