Samuel Ayomide Ibrahim, a student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), defeated more than 3,000 final-year pharmacy students from 24 different pharmacy schools in Nigeria to win the title of Best Pharmacy Brain in Nigeria.
At the Grand Finale of the Shalina Young Talent Award (SYTA) Season 6, a competition that honours achievement and innovation in pharmacy, 500-level pharmacy student Samuel won the coveted award.
Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, FPSN, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, acknowledged his accomplishment and gave him the award along with a ₦1 million cash prize.

When Samuel looked back on his journey, he said the competition pushed him to the edge of his comfort zone and changed him. He committed himself to thorough preparation for a variety of rounds, such as debate presentations, rapid-fire rounds, quiz challenges, and viva voce (oral defence).
Meeting my fellow competitors—talented, enthusiastic, and committed pharmacy students from all around Nigeria—was what really made this event unique. Their experiences, expertise, and dedication to influencing the direction of pharmacy practice in our nation inspired me,” he stated.
Samuel was appreciative to Shalina Healthcare for offering a venue for identifying and rewarding new pharmaceutical potential. Recognising that success is never attained alone, he also expressed gratitude to his friends, family, mentors, and fans.
He views this triumph as the start of an even bigger journey, dedicated to lifelong learning, development, and having a beneficial influence on the pharmacy industry.
