Following a three-week closure due to student protests over five deadly traffic accidents, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Kogi State, has declared that it will resume on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

After students flocked to the streets to voice their complaints, the institution was first closed to stop more disturbances. Lectures are scheduled to start on Monday, March 17, 2025, following the university’s approval of the resumption of academic activity during an extraordinary Senate meeting on Monday, March 10, 2025.
The university administration promised stakeholders in a statement released by Registrar and Secretary to the Council Rebecca Okojie that measures are being taken to address the fundamental safety issues that sparked the demonstrations, especially the frequent traffic accidents close to the school.
