Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the University’s visitor, has authorised the appointment of Prof. Ebuluowa Aderonke Adejuyigbe as the University’s new vice-chancellor after Professor Adesegun Fatusi’s term as vice-chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) has ended.

Adejuyigbe, a paediatrician, is from the state’s Akoko North East local government area. She currently serves as a consultant paediatrician at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital and the Executive Director of the Central Office of Research at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. She is the Vice-President of the African Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases, the Co-Chair of the National Child Health Technical Working Committee, a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine, and a Fellow Dean of OAU’s Faculty of Clinical Sciences.
The suggestion of the institution’s Governing Council served as the basis for Adejuyigbe’s appointment.
Until the newly appointed VC takes office, Prof. Adolphus Odogun Loto, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Clinical Services, will serve as Acting Vice-Chancellor.
