During a courtesy visit by Opay’s delegation to the University Management at the Academic Publishing Centre, Main Campus, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, the partnership was formally announced.
According to Justin Zhang, Opay’s chief public affairs officer, the program aims to lessen the financial strain on students from underprivileged families. The initiative will provide ₦300,000 in support to each beneficiary over its ten-year duration.

Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, the vice chancellor, praised the project and emphasised how it could reduce dropout rates brought on university financial hardships. Additionally, he urged Opay to expand its collaboration into other crucial fields like research, agriculture, and women’s empowerment.
The trip was led by Prof. Carolina Alenghena, Director of the Career Development Centre, and included the Deputy Director of the CDC.After visiting the University Management, Prof. Muibat Yahaya and other Centre officials were given a tour of the Entrepreneur Center’s facilities.
