“The extension will allow the NYSC to deepen its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training, enabling corps members to become self-reliant and contribute more effectively to national development,” Alausa said in a statement issued on Saturday, April 5 by NYSC’s Director of Public Relations, Caroline Embu.

The NYSC DG responded by stating that they were willing to comply with any new federal regulations and reaffirmed that continuous reforms were being made to guarantee that the plan took into account the most pressing national issues.

According to Nafiu, “we are working to reform the scheme to better reflect present national needs.”

As part of a larger reform strategy to fight certificate fraud, the minister also highlighted the ministry’s efforts to digitise the verification process for Nigerian graduates with foreign training. Alausa also underlined that in order to improve the contribution of education to national development, the ministry and NYSC must work together more closely.

Nafiu, for his part, proposed the establishment of an extensive database to monitor Nigerian youth pursuing degree programs overseas.
