Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor’s spokeswoman, made this announcement on Saturday.
At the university’s combined 5th Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, where thousands of students received degrees and postgraduate credentials, the governor made the announcement.
Governor Yusuf claims that the international scholarship program is a component of his administration’s larger plan to recognise achievement, foster local talent, and increase Kano’s greatest minds’ exposure to the world.
“This administration is pleased to support the nine top graduating students who wish to continue their education overseas. We are making an investment in your future because we think your genius will elevate Kano and Nigeria as a whole,” he remarked.
In a similar vein, the Governor stated that academic achievement must not go unappreciated or unrewarded and offered automatic employment for the top postgraduate student.
“The Kano State Government will offer the top-performing postgraduate student an appointment right away. We think that in order to promote innovation and policy, we need to incorporate such outstanding people into our system,” he said.
All graduating students received congratulations from Governor Yusuf, who also urged them to act as responsible representatives of the state and the institution wherever they went.
A number of significant policy announcements were also made during the convocation, such as the 50% reduction in registration fees for Kano indigenous people, the renovation of female dorms, the addition of more buses to facilitate student transportation, and the funding of an additional 100 hectares for the university’s growth.
The governor praised Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the institution’s founder, for his vision in creating the university, calling it a “legacy project that continues to empower generations.”
