Brilliant Nigerian Man Gets 4.70/5.00 First Class Zoology Degree, Best Student Award

Obabiolorunkosi Adegbesan, a Nigerian scholar, graduated with a top-tier degree in Zoology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, with a remarkable GPA of 4.70 out of 5.00. He was recognized as the best graduating student in his department, winning the prestigious distinction.

Adegbesan documented his educational trajectory on LinkedIn, expressing satisfaction in his unwavering scholastic prowess, which had enabled him to outperform his peers from elementary to high school. In an interview with Medium, he said that even without obtaining a first-class degree, he was certain that he would have still obtained a good grade. He attributed his achievement to making substantial personal sacrifices.

In order to prioritize his academic pursuits, Adegbesan made many changes to his daily schedule. This included opting for online church services instead of going in person, and dedicating long hours to studying in the departmental library. He frequently chose to read at night, a time when most of his classmates were studying during the day.

Adegbesan was awarded the yearly reward by Professor S. O. Asaolu for achieving the best cumulative grade points in his department, in acknowledgment of his academic accomplishments. Additionally, he got the OAU Star Award, a highly esteemed new distinction. In addition to his rigorous academic commitments, Adegbesan managed to allocate time for student politics and music. He held the position of Academic Director for the Nigerian Association of Science Students, OAU branch.

Adegbesan maintained an impeccable 5.0 GPA from his third year till graduation. He attributed his achievement to the consistent support of his friends and family, who recognized his commitment to his academics and limited any potential distractions.

“My books were what made them know me,” he said, contemplating the impact his support system had on his academic accomplishments.
