71 Students Graduate First Class as KWASU Prepares for 12th Convocation

Kwara State University (KWASU) 12th Convocation: 71 First Class Degrees and Institutional Growth

Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, will honor 71 students with First Class Degrees out of 6,891 graduates during its 12th convocation ceremony on December 14, 2024. This announcement was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, during a press briefing in Malete.

Graduation Statistics
  • First Degrees: 6,374 graduates
    • 71 First Class Degrees
    • 1,828 Second Class Upper Division
    • 3,501 Second Class Lower Division
    • 974 Third Class
  • Postgraduate Degrees: 517 graduates
    • 468 Master’s Degrees
    • 49 Ph.D. Degrees

Prof. Shaykh-Luqman highlighted KWASU’s significant advancements:

  • Expansion to 11 faculties with plans to introduce 80 undergraduate programs.
  • Transition to a multi-campus system, with operations set to begin at Osi and Ilesha-Baruba campuses in the 2024/2025 academic session.
  • Completion of a 104-bed hostel and progress on the Student Smart City hostel project, enhancing student living conditions.

The Vice-Chancellor outlined persistent challenges, including:

  • Land encroachment: Urging Kwara Geographical Information Service for resolution.
  • Infrastructure needs: Advocating for the reconstruction of the Shao-Malete road and extension of the intra-campus road network.

KWASU’s 12th convocation not only celebrates academic excellence but also underscores the institution’s dedication to growth and addressing challenges.
