8,547 New Students Matriculated by ABU during 2023/2024 Academic Session

During the event at Mamman Kontagora Square, Main Campus, 8547 New Students Matriculated by ABU during the 2023/2024 Academic Session, the Vice-Chancellor said that the matriculation ceremony is a happy occasion for those who have been admitted and cleared through the screening process.

The academic event signifies the end of the academic year 2023/2024 admissions process.

The Vice-Chancellor said, “With this ceremony, you have been formally accepted into Ahmadu Bello University and you will now be fully guided by all the rules and regulations of the University.” Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of administration, represented the Vice-Chancellor.

“You have sworn and confirmed in this ceremony that you will uphold the University’s traditions and abide by its laws.”

He emphasized that although attending university is often an exciting experience, there is also a tremendous lot of societal responsibility involved in continuing your education.

The Vice-Chancellor pleaded with them to preserve a calm, steady, and friendly environment that is favorable to instruction, learning, and the development of moral character.

Bala also counseled them to avoid joining unauthorized student groups and to abstain from all social vices, including test cheating, cultism, drug misuse, indecent attire, and anti-social behavior in general.

Professor Bala assured the students that their instructors would do all in their power to help them achieve their future professional goals.

In addition to stating that the university wants to generate students with curiosity and creativity to educate them for appropriate interaction with the rapidly changing and complicated world, he said that ABU and its associated schools want to produce students with high potential.

The Vice-Chancellor also counseled the students to make prudent use of the money their parents and guardians have given them for maintenance and other acceptable school-related activities.

In a similar vein, he then commanded them to pay more attention to security and to follow any security advice given for their protection.

After congratulating the recently accepted students on joining the ABU community, Prof. Bala prayed to God for the students’ discernment, bravery, and ability to study so they may serve as excellent representatives of the educational system.

The matriculation oath was delivered by Registrar Malam Rabiu Samaila in the presence of many prominent University employees and members of the Management team.
