The Lens Polytechnic Offa Department of Mass Communication has arranged a talent hunt to allow the department’s ND ll students to showcase their extraordinary and innate skills to the public.
Held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Institution’s permanent site, the captivating event included fashion parades, comedy, dancing, drama, music, chanting, a cuisine competition, and a proverb duet.
Dr. Azeez Yisa, the Vice-Chancellor, praised the Students for their outstanding results during his introductory speech. He mentioned that the school prepares students academically and identifies skills for independence and self-sufficiency.
The Vice-Chancellor went on to say that a talent show is a component of the social journey that enables students to learn about who they are and what they have to give society. As a result, he cautioned students at all levels to be creative and productive and to recognize their abilities as crucial components of a prosperous future.
“You are in the best Polytechnic to display your talent,” he said. Determine your skills, find your passion, and highlight your contributions to society. You don’t need to wait for a white-collar job to use your innate talent; just put in the effort to develop your skills and you will reach the promised land.
The program, according to the head of the department of mass communication, Mrs. Kehinde Adeniran, gives all students a chance to share their God-given talents and get involved in the Polytechnic community. Mrs. Adeniran continued, “The department uses talent hunt shows to highlight students’ extraordinary abilities and help them get ready for the future.”
“Mass communication is a course that leads to a variety of careers. One of the most lucrative fields in mass communication is the creative business, which Lens Polytechnic is currently investigating in great detail. The talent show we have today is just another exciting occasion that confirms our devotion and commitment to providing our children with a happy future,” she remarked.
The Head of Department also praised Mr. Adebayo Lukman Alani, the lecturer who oversaw and organized the event, for introducing the students to the real-world experiences of the creative sector. She also praised the students for raising the management bar and making the department proud.
