At the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, a strong downpour on Thursday morning caused substantial damage to a famous building and injured multiple students.

First-year students were attending an early-morning lecture at the Oduduwa Hall Amphitheatre, which is the building that was impacted by the incident.
Abiodun Olarewaju, a spokesman for the university, confirmed the occurrence in a statement but did not disclose the precise number of students that were impacted.
However, six pupils were injured as a result of the incident, according to student Gbolahan Latinwo, who talked with Premium Times. After receiving a referral to the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, two of the injured students were moved to the university teaching hospital to receive additional medical care.
According to Mr. Olarewaju, in reaction to the occurrence, the university administration has closed the lecture hall indefinitely. Vice-Chancellor Adebayo Bamire and other top officials made a quick visit to the university’s medical and health facilities to make sure the wounded students were given the proper medical attention.
Furthermore, two other students who needed more extensive medical care were personally escorted to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC) by Mr. Bamire. The management of their cases was overseen by Chief Medical Director John Okeniyi.
The Vice-Chancellor asked everyone to remain composed in the wake of the tragedy and to carry on with their academic and administrative duties as usual.
