On Wednesday, chaos broke out at the University of Benin’s (UNIBEN) Ugbowo campus when students took over the major Ugbowo-Lagos Expressway to protest a power outage and a shortage of water in their dorms, among other concerns.
According to The Guardian, students are asking that the university administration restore power and water to the campus and dorms as soon as possible.
Additionally, students are protesting the higher rates for intra-campus shuttle bus services.
As of the publication of this news, the university administration had not yet released an official comment addressing the students’ protest.
