Teen Nigerian Lawyer Receives UK Commonwealth Scholarship for Free Master’s
A young Nigerian lawyer, Fiyin Odetoyinbo, has earned the Commonwealth Scholarship to study Global Crime, Justice, and Security at Edinburgh University in the UK.
After earning a Bachelor of Law from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, Fiyin attended the Nigerian Law School and became a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
On LinkedIn, Fiyin said winning the Commonwealth Scholarship was a dream come true, particularly on his birthday.
The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, part of the UK’s international development efforts, allows Least Developed and middle-income students to study in the UK for Master’s. It includes flights, complete tuition, and a monthly stipend paid by the Commonwealth and UK institutions.
Fiyin thanked the chance, calling it a major academic and professional achievement. He praised God, his family, and loved ones for their constant support, as well as academics who shaped his career and Agbaje & Co.’s Managing Partner for their guidance and faith in him.
