FUTA Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Students Begin On-Campus Examinations
Students enrolled in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programme at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) have commenced their on-campus examinations, marking the successful conclusion of their 100-level academic session.
The exams, taking place on the university’s campus, serve not only to assess students’ academic progress but also to provide them with an authentic university experience, bridging the gap between distance learning and traditional, in-person academic engagement.
Bridging the Gap in Education:
The Director of the ODL Centre, Professor Sanmi Alao, emphasized that the FUTA ODL program is designed to break traditional barriers in higher education, making it accessible to students regardless of age, location, or time constraints.
By blending online lectures, assignments, and monthly on-campus tutorials, the programme offers a flexible yet rigorous learning model. This allows students to benefit from the advantages of distance learning while still gaining critical face-to-face interaction within the university environment.
Pathway to a Full Bachelor’s Degree:
After completing the ongoing exams, this cohort of students will progress to their 200-level studies, while new students will begin their 100-level courses.
Graduates of the programme are also eligible to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, provided they meet the age criteria.
Commitment to Academic Excellence:
FUTA’s ODL program is committed to upholding high academic standards while addressing the diverse needs of students, offering them opportunities to pursue higher education regardless of their personal circumstances.
