Sarah Kareem, a standout Nigerian graduate, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) with a remarkable 89% grade point average.
She was honored with awards as the Best Graduating Student in Farm Power and Machinery and the Best Female Graduating Student in her department.
Additionally, Sarah’s induction into the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) marked a significant milestone in her engineering career.
Reflecting on her university journey, Sarah shared on LinkedIn that her time at OAU shaped her resilience, adaptability, and strong work ethic through both challenges and triumphs.
She demonstrated leadership by serving as Project Manager for the NASA Space Hackathon (OAU Chapter) for three years, where she developed her organizational and teamwork skills.
During her SIWES internship at the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), she gained practical experience in waste management, pollution monitoring, and quality control.
Sarah enhanced her expertise as a Research Assistant at the University of Arkansas, USA, focusing on food safety in the poultry industry and advancing her data analysis skills with tools like Excel and JMP.
Her academic excellence culminated in her final-year project, a pilot-scale recirculatory aquaculture system, which received recognition as the Best Final Year Project in her department.
