ABU Zaria Issues Warning Against Illegal Sale of Bed Spaces on Campus
The Ahmadu Bello University Students’ Representative Council (ABUSRC), under the leadership of Comrade Nazeer Ibrahim Kallah, has issued a strong warning to all undergraduate students against engaging in the illegal buying and selling of bed spaces on campus.
Accommodation Portal Announcement
The Deanery has announced that the undergraduate accommodation portal will open on 3rd January 2025. This portal is specifically for students intending to reside on campus, particularly those facing financial constraints that prevent them from living off campus.
The university’s Students’ Affairs Division has repeatedly warned against the illegal sale and purchase of bed spaces. Students engaging in such practices risk severe sanctions, including:
- Immediate seizure of the bed space.
- Possible rustication for up to a semester.
Hall Governors and Representatives have been directed to monitor hostel activities and report any suspicious behavior or fraudulent transactions to the appropriate authorities.
To enforce compliance with hostel residency regulations, the university has mandated personnel from the following departments to monitor and address violations:
- Security Division
- Students’ Affairs Division
- IAIICT Division
The management urges students to adhere strictly to their matriculation oath and abide by university regulations. Those caught violating these rules will face appropriate disciplinary measures.
Students are reminded to take this warning seriously and to avoid engaging in fraudulent activities that could jeopardize their academic journey.
