The National Youth Service Corps has issued a warning to Corps Members not to leave their States of assignment without permission.
During his visit to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream Two Corps Members spending their three-week indoctrination at Nasarawa State Orientation Camp in Magaji Dan Yamusa, Keffi, NYSC Director General Brigadier General YD Ahmed issued the warning.
Any Corps Member who travels without NYSC approval is breaking the law, he added, and they will be dealt with in accordance with NYSC byelaws.
The DG also suggested that they avoid travelling at night if it is required of them. Additionally, he advised them to avoid engaging in any young activities that could endanger their safety and to always be watchful for their own safety. General Ahmed counselled the Corps Members to make their Place of Primary Assignments more valuable, serve their host communities with diligence, and carry out admirable initiatives that would raise the living standards of the locals.
“You have to go to every lecture in camp. Continue to have positive relationships with each other and, by carrying out quality projects, contribute to your host towns and primary assignment location,” he continued.
A total of 2,412 Corps Members were registered, with 1,538 for Nasarawa and 874 evicted from the FCT, according to Mrs. Salamatu Muhammad, the NYSC Nasarawa State Coordinator, who was delivering her camp report to the Director General.
She stated, “We have 385 males and 489 females for FCT and 756 males and 782 females for Nasarawa.” The Coordinator went on to say that the Corps Members had a strong sense of discipline and had adapted to the camp administration.
