Aisha, who intends to pursue a nursing degree, credits her achievement to the academic help and mentorship she received from the AUN intervention at her school as part of the Girls Education Empowerment Project (GEEP).
Under the guidance of AUN student Zainab Ahmad Shu’aibu, who coached her as part of the AUN-Atiku Institute for Development (AID) GEEP programs, Aisha’s path to receiving this esteemed scholarship was characterised by commitment and tenacity.
As she prepared for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and West African Examinations Council (WAEC) tests, she claimed that her tutor’s counsel and direction paid off, as she received a 230 on the JAMB and an exceptional score on the WAEC.

Aisha reflected on her accomplishment and conveyed her deep appreciation. After my results were announced in October, I submitted an application for a scholarship at AUN. I got my letter of admission to study nursing on December 2, 2024,” she exclaimed with excitement. She further underlined the benefits of AUN’s inclusive teaching methodology:
“I now understand that a development university is a place where quality and hard effort are rewarded, not simply for the wealthy. I am a poor girl, and I wouldn’t be here if it were just for the wealthy. Harira Umar, Aisha’s mother, expressed her immense pleasure and happiness. “My daughter receiving a scholarship surprised me, but here we are now. I’m incredibly pleased and thrilled for my daughter. I encourage her to work hard in her studies and make us proud because she received a scholarship to AUN.
” Her achievement was also honoured by her family and close friends. “Aisha is a smart woman, and she deserves this,” said friend Zainab Muktar Yusuf. We’ll continue to pray for her success. “Many people hope for this kind of opportunity, but not everyone gets it,” her cousin Isa Modibbo Iya continued. In order to construct her future, we pray for her accomplishments and success at AUN.
“AUN President Dr. DeWayne Frazier congratulated Aisha on her accomplishment and reiterated the university’s dedication to empowering gifted students.”Aisha’s experience serves as evidence of the transformational potential of mentoring and education.
At AUN, we’re committed to developing bright minds and giving students the chance to realise their goals. We are excited to watch her succeed and are honoured to have her join our university for the Spring 2025 semester.
