Four University of Lagos (UNILAG) students have been chosen to take part in the University of Szczecin, Poland’s Erasmus KA171+ Exchange Program. The program will take place throughout the 2024–2025 academic year, from March 1st to July 14th, 2025. Luqman Yusuff (400 level Economics), Olawale Fathiah (300 level Human Kinetics and Health Education), Ugochukwu Francis (300 level Law), and Priscilla Oboh (400 level Mass Communication) are the chosen students.
The students conveyed their enthusiasm for the chance, highlighting their wish to expand their worldwide networks, experience life outside of Africa, and obtain foreign exposure. “I have always seen myself as a global citizen, somebody who is not bound just to the borders of Nigeria and Africa alone,” Oboh said, emphasising her motivation. They think the exchange program will give them a new outlook on their education and personal development.

The three main steps of the selection process were interviews, shortlisting, and application. Ugochukwu revealed that he spent several nights crafting responses to possible questions to make sure he was ready, while Fathiah called the interview process “nerve-wracking.” Their accomplishments in the demanding selection process demonstrate their devotion to academic success.
The students have been interacting with friends from other countries and learning Polish language and customs in order to get ready for their time in Poland. They have studied the course materials and are keen to learn more about the European educational system. They think that this exposure will help them learn new things, see the world from different angles, and gain useful abilities.
The chosen participants encouraged other students to apply for similar chances, advising them to not allow fear stop them, to prepare ahead of time, and to seek advice from seasoned mentors. Professor Folasade Ogunsola, the vice chancellor, congratulated the students on their accomplishment, praised their commitment, and wished them luck as they pursued their studies overseas.
