In what is believed to be a ritual killing, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, a final-year student at Kwara State College of Education, was brutally slain and mutilated by her boyfriend, whom she met on social media.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, Yetunde was last seen leaving a naming ceremony after getting a call from a friend. Her relatives reported her missing to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin after she did not come back. Her most recent call to a suspect in the Offa Garage District was traced by the police using her phone records.

The suspect confessed after being arrested, saying that Yetunde died from an asthma attack after he invited her over. At first, he denied any participation. However, investigators found her dismembered remains concealed in a bowl during a search of his home, along with what they say were instruments used in the act.
Since then, the suspect has been moved to the Ilorin police headquarters for additional examination. According to sources, troubling evidence discovered at the scene raises the possibility that he has previously committed similar crimes.
