Nigeria now has 149 private universities, 63 state universities, and 63 federal institutions that have been approved, according to the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The Federal University of Environment and Technology (FUET) was established in Ogoni town of Tai, Rivers State, with the president’s approval on February 3, 2025.
Additionally, the President approved the Federal Government’s acquisition of a Southern Kaduna private university that had been forfeited and its conversion to a federal institution.
