In anticipation of the 2025 Ramadan fast, the leadership of Bauchi State has declared that all schools will be closed for five weeks.
The Ministry of Education claims that the decision is in line with the authorised academic calendar for 2024–2025 and that it is applicable to all public and private educational institutions, including elementary, junior secondary, senior secondary, and postsecondary ones.

Jalaludeen Maina, the Ministry of Education’s Information Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that the holiday was scheduled in advance to make sure pupils spend Ramadan at home.
“Students can fully participate in the fasting period without being in school during the closure, which will take place from March 1 to April 5,” he said.
Additionally, he clarified that students will immediately return to their regular academic program following Ramadan.
