A FUTA senior who rides Okada goes Viral, gets Unexpected help.

After his inspiring tale of tenacity and resolve touched many people online, a 500-level student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) went viral. In order to pay for his schooling and school expenses, the statistics student has been working as a commercial motorbike (Okada) rider.

When he unintentionally picked up well-known Nigerian content producer Kopa Respect as a passenger, his inspirational trip became public knowledge. Kopa Respect, who is well-known for his amusing NYSC-related practical jokes, tried to deceive the student by feigning inability to pay for the journey.

But the unwary FUTA student refused to back out, claiming that he required the money. He opened up about his difficulties during their talk, stating that he was completely dependent on his Okada earnings to continue his education and had no outside assistance.

Profoundly inspired by his tenacity, Kopa Respect made the decision to assist, providing the student with encouragement and financial support to lessen his burden.

Kopa Respect shared the experience on social media, writing:

It’s easy to judge people for being strict with money, but behind every decision, there’s a story. This young man is a fighter—navigating a tough system, working tirelessly to put himself through school. His struggle isn’t about greed; it’s about survival and determination.”

He also discussed the difficulties Nigerian students encounter, raising concerns about the nation’s economic and educational structures:

Dear Nigerian Government, working hard for an education is one thing; facing uncertainty after graduation is another. What happens to those who sacrifice everything for a degree when there is no clear future for them? This young man is fighting for a better future, but what does the system have in store for him after graduation?”

The story has since sparked widespread reactions, with many applauding the student’s resilience and calling for better opportunities for hardworking youths in Nigeria.
