Frederick Agaaya Adongo, a gifted Ghanaian scholar, has accomplished a remarkable academic achievement by graduating with a First-Class degree in law from the University of Ghana and been accepted into the Master of Laws (LL.M.) programs at Yale and Harvard University.
Frederick started his legal studies at the University of Ghana in 2015, graduating with First-Class honours in 2021 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). After finishing his studies at the Ghana Law School, he was admitted to the bar as a solicitor and barrister of the Supreme Court of Ghana.

He received offers from Yale and Harvard, two of the most prominent law schools in the world, for his outstanding academic performance. When he had to choose between the two, he finally enrolled in Yale Law School, citing its small, extremely selective class size—roughly 25 students are admitted annually worldwide.
Being the first Ghanaian and one of the few Africans admitted to Yale’s LL.M. program in decades filled Frederick with pride. He acknowledged that attending such prestigious universities used to seem like an impossible dream and called the experience “surreal.”
When he looked back on his path, he credited his success to divine intervention as well as the steadfast assistance of his mentors, family, and friends—especially Nana Dr. S.K.B. Asante, whose advice was vital in his success.
Frederick anticipates a rewarding academic experience at Yale as he starts this new phase, where he expects to gain knowledge from some of the best legal scholars in the world. He remarked, “Here’s to fresh starts and limitless opportunities.”
