After Seven Years Nigerian Emerges As Best Graduating Student.

In spite of everything, Olayinka, a strong young Nigerian, has turned years of rejection and adversity into a remarkable academic achievement tale. He graduated with a First-Class degree in Finance and became the top student in his field.

Olayinka’s path started with four failed admissions attempts to the University of Ilorin. He persisted and eventually got accepted to study banking and finance at the Federal Polytechnic Offa. Due to protracted academic strikes, a two-year diploma program was extended to three years.

Olayinka performed exceptionally well in spite of the delay, earning the prize for best graduating student in his department and graduating with an exceptional CGPA of 3.73/4.0. His outstanding performance made it possible for him to be accepted into UNILORIN’s Finance program. But his time at university wasn’t any less tumultuous.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and additional strikes, his three-year degree was extended to four years. To make matters worse, Olayinka struggled to keep up personal cleanliness and frequently stayed in classes during two of those academic sessions without the necessary accommodations.

Hunger occasionally threatened to divert his attention. He remembered, “Hunger kills reading,” referring to the inability to focus when he is preoccupied with his next meal. Olayinka had to rely on side gigs and coaching younger pupils to make ends meet because he had limited financial assistance and lost his mother while pursuing his education.

He remained dedicated to his objectives in the face of every obstacle. When he graduated as the top student at the University of Ilorin’s Department of Finance, his perseverance and fortitude were finally rewarded.

Olayinka is thankful for those that supported him, such as his father and Faculty Adviser, and he has optimism for the future. “This is only the beginning,” he said with conviction, determined to reach even greater heights.

Olayinka’s tale is a strong reminder that patience, hard effort, and courage can overcome even the most challenging hurdles.
