Overview: A blog on the List of Accredited/Approved Faculties of Law in Nigeria
List of accredited/approved faculties of Law in Nigeria and the approved quota as released by the Council of Legal Education.
Those who wish to practice law in Nigeria must enroll at the Nigerian Law School, which is governed by the Council of Legal Education.
It also specifies the actions that individuals who wish to practice law in Nigeria after earning a law degree from a foreign university must do.
In order to guarantee that aspiring judges study Nigerian customary law, the Nigerian Law School and the Council of Legal Education were founded in 1962 when the Legal Education Act was passed.

INTERPRETATION OF TERMS
Fulfillment of Council Requirements: This indicates that the faculty has obtained full accreditation.
The faculty has substantially fulfilled with Council standards, as evidenced by its provisional accreditation. Suspended accreditation denotes that the Council of Legal Education has revoked the faculty of law’s accreditation.
Undergoing Accreditation denotes that while the university’s application to start the law program is being reviewed, admission of students to the law faculty has not yet been granted.
The Council of Legal Education has approved the launch of the Law Faculty, pending additional accreditation. This is known as interim accreditation.
NOTICE IMPORTANT REGARDING ADMISSION TO THE NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL.
To be clear, the Council of Legal Education and the Board of Study do not recognize studying law through correspondence, part-time work, or in any other environment than a traditional university for admission to the Nigerian Law School or entry into the legal profession.
The Open University’s legal studies are not accredited.
