Emmanuella Adaora Otu, a wonderful Nigerian woman, has achieved her goal of earning a first-class law degree from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Nigeria, five years ago.
Looking back on her path, Emmanuella revealed that when she first enrolled in UNIZIK’s Faculty of Law, she had no clear academic objectives. But she quickly made the decision to strive for perfection at all costs. “After a few weeks, I still didn’t have a clear objective, but I made the internal decision that I would pursue excellence no matter what,” she added.

She maintained academic distinction while juggling leadership responsibilities, extracurricular activities, and her academics. She held more than eleven leadership roles, finished seven internships, became a member of fifteen organisations, and even started a club. In addition, she wrote more than 15 publications, competed in 20 national and international contests, and received numerous honours and certifications.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Emmanuella was an active member of faculty politics, owned Melanie Cakes & Pastries, a successful cake business, and participated in some of the most competitive elections during her time at university. In addition, she tutored and mentored junior coworkers informally as a CLASFON tutor and informally.
She was in the top 1% of her graduating class because of her commitment and tenacity. She was one of only 80 students from UNIZIK’s Class of 2024 who received a first-class degree out of a total of over 8,000 graduates.
Emmanuella credits her achievement to her faith, tenacity, and the steadfast help of her friends, family, and mentors. “I like to assume that we have this relationship and that God hears me in a different way. “I feel privileged,” she said.
She looks forward to the next stage of her journey with her first-class law degree, ready to take on new challenges, push herself further, and keep aiming for greatness.
