Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the leading international honour society for computing and information sciences, has presented Abdulmateen Adebiyi, a PhD candidate in computer science at the University of Missouri, with the Outstanding Achievement Award.
Adebiyi’s dedication to furthering computer science and his influential work in healthcare technology are highlighted by this esteemed award.
Adebiyi conveyed his appreciation for the guidance and assistance he received during his academic career.
“I would like to thank Dr. Kamrul Islam, the department chair; Dr. Praveen Rao, my advisor; Dr. Becevic Mirna, my committee member; and Dr. Michael Jurczyk, our UPE chapter advisor, for their mentorship and guidance,” he said. “This achievement is a testament to their unwavering belief in my potential, for which I am very grateful.”

Under the direction of Associate Professor Praveen Rao, Adebiyi carries out his study at the Scalable Data Science Lab. His research focusses on using knowledge graphs and artificial intelligence to diagnose diseases, especially in dermatology. He is creating tools to assist doctors in more effectively triaging skin care patients using deep learning.
In order to extract important conversations and treatment recommendations for primary care physicians, his research also entails analysing video data from Dermatology ECHO sessions. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of his study and its potential to bridge the gap between technology and medicine, he is receiving funding for his PhD studies from the Mizzou Telehealth Network and the University of Missouri TRIUMPH grant.
The fact that UPE recognised Adebiyi is a major turning point in his academic career and confirms the expanding influence of his work in the fields of technology and healthcare.
