VendorIn an emotional and inspiring moment at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University’s 3rd and 4th combined convocation ceremony, Uthman Oloyede, son of a dedicated schoolteacher and firewood seller, was named the best graduating student of the 2023/2024 academic session with a 4.98 CGPA from the Department of Physics with Electronics.

Uthman took the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) five times before getting into AATU on a local government scholarship. After initial hurdles, he flourished at the university, earning a perfect 5.0 GPA in six of eight semesters, 55 A’s and 2 B’s, and three prestigious scholarships, including Federal and MTN Foundation ones.
Uthman said in his valedictory speech that resilience and support can overcome humble beginnings and numerous rejections to achieve greatness. His ambition was made achievable by his family, the Lagelu Local Government scholarship system, and the Oyo State Government’s education dedication.
As the Ameer of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) at AATU, Uthman led students while maintaining academic achievement.
Vice Chancellor Professor Adesola Ajayi praised Uthman’s journey as proof of support’s transforming potential, asking society not to lose up on early academic problems. The government’s scholarship programs help kids like Uthman and many others with similar tales, he said.
