Arise News’ Anambra correspondent Emeka Monye has established a ₦2 million endowment fund to honour the top graduating student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Enugu State’s Mass Communication department.
The program, which was unveiled Wednesday at a university ceremony, is to support academic excellence and support Monye’s alma institution. The department’s top graduate will receive ₦200,000 a year from the fund, which is expected to last for ten years.

Monye, who was born in Owerre-Olubor, Delta State, said he hoped his project would encourage other journalists and well-meaning Nigerians to encourage intellectual development in higher education.
Leonard Ezeme, UNN’s Senior Deputy Registrar and Head of the Career Services Centre, responded by expressing the university’s gratitude and emphasising the governing council’s appreciation for Monye’s kindness.
“We express our gratitude to Emeka Monye of Arise News for his kind donation to our university,” the letter said, asking him or a representative to attend the Prize and Awards Night Convocation Ceremony to see the results of his assistance.
The letter ended with the best wishes and sincere gratitude of the acting vice chancellor.
