A resolute Nigerian student named Nosirat Oluwabukola Dada graduated Lagos State University (LASU) with first-class honours in Botany. She also achieved an amazing 4.59 CGPA, making her the department’s Best Graduating Student for the 2023–2024 academic year.

Nosirat had a difficult academic beginning in primary school, when she frequently fell behind her peers and had to repeat lessons, in an emotional reflection posted on LinkedIn. She persisted in believing that education was the key to a better future in spite of the obstacles.
When she was awarded a scholarship to attend secondary school, her path took a dramatic shift. A fresh sense of purpose and academic focus were ignited by the encouragement. She initially wanted to be a nurse, but when LASU offered her a Botany course, she wasn’t too interested in it. But with perseverance and tenacity, Nosirat embraced the field, became passionate about it, and eventually succeeded.
Nosirat established herself as an environmentalist outside of the classroom. She represented Lagos State as a Youth Ambassador from 2022 to 2024, served as a climate ambassador, and received recognition for her work.
Nosirat attributed her accomplishment to the steadfast assistance of her parents, relatives, friends, instructors, and mentors who supported her along her academic career.
