Sarah Amash, a talented Nigerian lady, has won the coveted Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, which grants her complete financial support to study for a two-year Master’s degree at four different European universities.
Prior to being accepted into the Erasmus Joint Master’s in Social Work with Children and Youth (ESWOCHY), Sarah, a 2019 University of Benin graduate with a second-class upper degree in social work, obtained significant job experience.

The program, which is run by Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania and is supported by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program, involves partner institutions like ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon (Portugal), the Catholic University in Ruzomberok (Slovakia), and Riga Stradins University (Latvia).
She said that being chosen as one of 97 Nigerians for the fully financed 2024 Erasmus Mundus scholarship was a godsend and evidence of her love for social work. She also applied for the Australia Awards Scholarship, but before she could finish the application procedure, she was admitted into Erasmus Mundus.
Sarah attributes her success to God, perseverance, and the steadfast help of loved ones and mentors. She highlighted how her leadership training, experience working with underprivileged areas, and volunteer work with NGOs made her stand out during the selection process. Sarah shared her joy on LinkedIn and acknowledged her parents’ influence on her achievement, expressing her sincere gratitude for their support and sacrifice. She is eager to learn in a multicultural setting, broaden her knowledge, and apply what she has learnt to have a significant influence.
Through her social work foundation, The Guided Group, which empowers youth and aids marginalised communities, Sarah is steadfast in her commitment to giving back as she sets off on her new journey.
