The top graduating female student from the University of Uyo’s (UNIUYO) College of Medicine is 23-year-old Stephanie Anumba, a Nigerian. In 2024, she graduated with five distinctions with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree, a noteworthy academic accomplishment that distinguishes her from her colleagues.
Stephanie’s exceptional performance also earned her a licence to practise medicine in Nigeria after she was formally inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). This is a major turning point in her path to becoming a successful doctor.

Reflecting on her academic career and expressing gratitude for her achievements, Stephanie shared her excitement on Twitter. She acknowledged the effort and commitment that brought her achievement by highlighting her accomplishments in important medical courses, such as Laboratory Medicine, Pharmacology, Paediatrics, Community Medicine, and Family Medicine.
She won the title for Best Graduating Student in Paediatrics in addition to being named the College of Medicine’s top female graduating student. Her academic achievement has been fuelled by her love of child healthcare, and as her career progresses, she anticipates specialising in paediatrics.
Many prospective medical students in Nigeria and elsewhere have been motivated by Stephanie’s accomplishment. She is still dedicated to changing the healthcare industry as she starts her career as a doctor, especially in the field of paediatrics, where she intends to significantly improve the health of young patients.
