Adeleke University denies Allegations of Religious Discrimination.

The administration of Adeleke University in Ede, Osun State, has learnt of a publication by Professor Ishaq Akintola, Director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), which claims that Adeleke University is persecuting Muslim students by preventing them from observing Salat and requiring them to attend church every Wednesday and Saturday.

The administration of Adeleke University vehemently denounces MURIC’s misrepresented and deceptive publication and begs the public to ignore these assertions.

Although we strongly condemn the objective of this publication, we would like the public to be aware that Adeleke University is open to those of various religions despite being a Christian university. There are Muslim students on our campus in considerable numbers, and we have Muslim high-ranking officials.

Muslim students are transported by three of our coaster buses to the Alhaaji Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke Memorial Mosque in Ede town on Fridays. Following their prayers, they are given light refreshments upon their return to the school.

The University Cafeteria makes special arrangements throughout Ramadan to provide Muslim students food early in the morning and again in the evening after the fast. Muslim students are provided with fruits, water, and light refreshments to break their Ramadan fast in the evenings during the Week of Revival, a one-week spiritual event open to all school personnel and students.

Therefore, MURIC’s defamatory claims are a deliberate attempt to damage Adeleke University’s positive business image. The Muslim Students Association, Adeleke University Chapter, and other Muslim stakeholders at Adeleke University, Ede, and Osun State, who are aware of the situation at Adeleke, have refuted and vehemently denounced the MURIC publication in order to support this claim.

We would want to implore Professor Ishaq Akintola, the Director of MURIC, to stop making unfounded accusations against Adeleke University and its administration going forward and instead concentrate on the university’s initiatives to advance inclusiveness and high-quality education. The only private university in Nigeria where over half of the student body, including Muslim students, is enrolled in the proprietor’s scholarship program is Adeleke University.

As embodied in our university’s core principles, we wish to reassure all of our parents, students, and stakeholders of our steadfast dedication to upholding religious tolerance and unity in diversity.
