Moses Udofia, the University of Calabar’s overall best-graduating student from the Accounting Department, received N1 million from Blessing Alims, the first female president of the Student Union Government (SUG). Udofia had a CGPA of 4.92/5.00.

Given during UNICAL’s 50th anniversary and 37th convocation, Alims said the award is in line with her administration’s mission to support academic excellence and inspire students to remain committed to their studies. She also thanked Dr. Michael Odere, the Cross River State Commissioner of Finance, for providing an extra N500,000 in appreciation of Udofia’s remarkable accomplishment.
Despite the prevalence of mediocrity in the school sector, Udofia expressed thanks for the distinction, saying it underscores the value of academic brilliance. He assured the children that hard work breeds success and advised them to stick with their aspirations.
