This comes after he paid a courtesy call to Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, who said that a plot of land has already been allocated.
As the first time in recent memory that a Commissioner of Police has paid an official visit to the office of a current Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK, the visit was hailed as historic. CP Orutugu underlined the necessity of a safe environment to support academic success during talks and recognised the university’s vital role in developing leaders across all sectors.

Concerns regarding crime rates in the Ifite and Amansea axis were also voiced by CP Orutugu. He affirmed that in order to address this problem, a specific piece of land that has already been authorised for security will be transformed into a fully functional police station. The goal of this program is to reduce criminal activity and strengthen security measures both inside and outside of the university.
In his reply, Prof. Ikechebelu praised the Commissioner’s dedication to security and confided in his capacity to combat crime in Anambra State, particularly at UNIZIK.
The visit ended with Prof. Ikechebelu receiving a plaque of honour in appreciation of his leadership and dedication to campus security. The vice chancellor emphasised that the visit is in line with his administration’s agenda for a safe and secure campus, which is summed up in his “BLESSeD Vision.”
