The prestigious 2024 Convocation Ceremony of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is about to take place. On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in the prestigious institution’s Postgraduate Hall, the Acting Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, made this momentous statement during a formal Senate meeting.
Convocation Schedule
The convocation events are carefully planned to accommodate both undergraduate and graduate students over the course of two days:
- Undergraduate Convocation: April 26, 2024, Friday
- Postgraduate Convocation: April 27, 2024, Saturday

During the Senate meeting, the eleventh Governing Council of IAUE witnessed the election of four distinguished Senate Members:
- Head of the Ndele Campus and Dean of the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education is Professor Isaac Ogundu.
- The Director of the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies and the General Studies Unit is Professor Beatrice Awortu.
- Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Professor Ozioma Ekpete.
Professor Livinus Ogbonda is the dean of the education faculty.

Graduation for New Students
The Senate has also authorized Saturday, March 16, 2024, as the day for new student matriculation in addition to the convocation dates. This ceremony officially welcomes new students to the university and lays the groundwork for their academic careers at IAUE.
