Promise Ekong, a Nigerian female graduate drowns. Two months ago, the young woman who finished her one-year required National Youth Service drowned in a swimming pool at Stanzel Grand Hotel in Gwarinpa, Abuja.
Late Ekong, an indigene of Boki Local Government Area in Cross River State, apparently drowned last Wednesday, February 8, while enjoying the swimming pool of the hotel.
According to hotel management, she reported her death to the police right away, but victim relatives claimed foul play.
A relative who spoke stated they would investigate the issue logically till the reason of her death is revealed.
She said:
“That was not the day she first started swimming. She was much at ease in swimming pools. The incident startled us. The family member pointed out that the management still has to tell us the truth. Josephine Adeh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incidence when called the Public Relations Officer of Federal Capital Territory Police Command.One Abang Paul, a male SNCO 1 Lungi Barracks Abuja resident, reported the incidence to the Gwarimpa Divisional Police Headquarters.
Ekong was regrettably pronounced dead and was hurried to the hospital. “The deceased has been laid at the mortuary; an inquiry on circumstances surrounding the sad event has started. Development will be shared later on.
