With pride, the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) announces the opening of applications for the 2024/2025 academic year’s M.Sc. Petroleum Project Development and Energy Transition Program. The Institute of Petroleum and Energy Studies (IPES), originally the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS), offers transformative educational options, of which this program is a part.
Synopsis of the Initiative
Originally conceived as a progressive endeavor to close the knowledge gap between academia and the ever-changing, real-world needs of the oil and gas sector, IPES was founded in 2003. The NNPC Limited / TotalEnergies E&P Nigeria Limited Joint Venture provides funding for this program, which is a partnership between UNIPORT, Nigeria, and IFP School, France.

- Improve performance in the oil and gas fields by taking part in multidisciplinary teams that assess and develop fields in an efficient manner.

Features of the Programme
- Duration: This is a 12-month intense program that is fully residential and runs full-time, nonstop.
- Degree Award: A joint Master’s degree from the University of Port Harcourt and the IFP School in France will be given to the successful candidates.
Admission Conditions
Candidates must fulfill one of the requirements listed below:
- A bachelor’s degree from an engineering program accredited by the NUC or an internationally recognized program with at least a second-class upper division.
- A Post HND (Bachelor of Degree) with a minimum of a second-class upper division from an accredited Engineering school.
- A postgraduate diploma in petroleum engineering or a similar discipline combined with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical sciences with a second-class lower division.
- A second-class lower-division engineering bachelor’s degree, enhanced by three years of pertinent work experience in the oil and gas sector.
Methods of Application
- Applications are being accepted through the IPES website.
- Application Fee: Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) is the non-refundable application fee.
Crucial Dates
- The deadline for applications is June 28, 2024, at 11:59 PM.
- Aptitude Test: July 5, 2024, either in person or online.
- Oral Interviews: Available in-person or electronically, on July 11 and 12, 2024.
- Academic Activities Will Begin on November 11, 2024.
