Without a master’s degree, Oyefunmilayo Amoda, a gifted Nigerian scholar, made headlines when he was awarded a fully funded PhD scholarship at Oregon State University in the United States. She obtained a National Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, where she started her academic career. She earned an outstanding 4.67 CGPA out of 5.00 and graduated with First-Class Honours from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in 2022.
Amoda stands out for her commitment to her studies. She began with a GPA of 4.18 but persisted in her efforts and eventually became the department’s top graduating student. Even though she had to deal with personal issues, such as the death of her father, Amoda was thankful for her brother, who paid for her schooling, as well as her encouraging teachers and relatives.

Amazingly, based only on her excellent academic record, she was accepted into the PhD program without requiring a master’s degree, a GRE, TOEFL, or IELTS test, or paying an application fee. This exceptional chance demonstrates how academic potential and excellence are becoming increasingly valued in higher education.
Amoda will further her academic and professional experience by working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in addition to her studies. Additionally, she received the coveted Provost Distinguished Scholarship, which is given to students who have demonstrated extraordinary academic achievement and research aptitude.
Amoda intends to make a substantial contribution to international nutrition and public health research, concentrating on the epidemiological roles of nutritional factors in the development of cancer. She wants to use her experience to motivate other aspiring students to pursue their goals, stay focused, and have faith in the strength of perseverance and hard work.
