Umar went famous in 2022 after a photo of him zealously leading a procession went viral. Contrary to rumors, he denied running a POS shop.
Umar told Legit.ng he is starting a POS business. Despite early financial challenges, he raised N352,000 through crowdfunding for his business venture. The initiative soon received attention from prominent figures including former minister Isa Pantami.
We began the fundraising campaign on June 24th and shared it on all social media platforms. within 24 hours, 80K was raised. It reached 200K+ the second day. According to Umar, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami cited the campaign on X App on the third day, prompting him to approach him privately.
Prof. Isa Pantami supported Umar’s business concept and gave him a position and mentorship to pursue his study. Umar also won a complete scholarship to attend any Nigerian public institution for postgraduate study.
“Secondly, a fully funded postgraduate scholarship at any Nigerian public university to further my studies. Finally, he linked me to Alliance Power Generation Company Ltd.’s MD, where I would learn solar installations, maintenance, etc. to follow my renewable energy aspirations, Umar said.
