The Federal Ministry of Education has taken notice of a false news release that is being around in the media. Following the purported discontinuation of the BEA Program, the statement claims that Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, the Honourable Minister of Education, established a committee to supervise the reintegration of the returning Bilateral Education Agreement.
The Ministry asserts unequivocally that no such group was established and that there is no mechanism in place for BEA students to reintegrate. It is recommended that the public ignore this false material in its entirety.

The Federal Government has ended the BEA Scholarship Program as part of a strategic policy change to prioritise and support local postsecondary education, as stated explicitly in the official press statement dated 07/05/2025. This decision came after a thorough policy review, acknowledging that all of the BEA-adopted courses are now offered in Nigerian universities and polytechnics, often at greater quality.
All current BEA scholars will continue to receive full government funding until their academic programs are completed, the Ministry affirms. Tuition, stipends, and any authorised benefits are included in this.
The public is strongly encouraged to only trust information that has been validated via the Ministry’s established channels of communication.
