FG Orders Universities to Leave IPPIS

FG Orders Universities to Leave IPPIS Immediately

Federal Executive Council mandates University system independence from Integrated Personnel and payroll Information System.

Following a December resolution, the Federal Executive Council ordered the rapid separation of the university system from IPPIS.

The council met Wednesday at the State House in Abuja and issued this decision. By @aonanuga1956, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga submitted this update.

The Federal Government exempted universities, polytechnics, colleges, and other tertiary institutions from the IPPIS on December 13, 2023. Staff remunerations from these institutions will no longer be handled via IPPIS.

Onanuga said that George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, received the separation order. This should conclude the Federal Government-Academic Staff Union of Universities issue.

The council also approved the National University of Science and Technology in Abuja, a Pan African institution that trains African scientists and technicians. Onanuga says this institution is Nigeria’s first and promotes scientific and technical progress in Africa.

The council ordered the Secretary of the Government of the Federation to speed the separation of universities from IPPIS, Onanuga tweeted.
