Professor Oluwakemi Christiana Abikoye is a distinguished academic with a robust background in Computer Science. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a Second Class Upper Division from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
She furthered her studies with a Master of Science degree from the University of Ibadan in 2006 and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of Ilorin in 2013.
Professor Abikoye has held key academic and administrative positions, including Head of the Department of Computer Science and Deputy Director (Research) at the Centre for Research, Development and In-house Training (CREDIT) at the University of Ilorin.
Her research focuses on computer and communication network security, cryptography, biometrics, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction.
A prolific scholar, she has authored over 100 publications across prestigious journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. Her commitment to mentoring is evident in her successful supervision of numerous Master’s dissertations and PhD theses.
She played a key role in securing the Artificial Intelligence for Females in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (AI4FS) Grant. The Royal Academy of Engineering funded the grant under the Higher Education Partnerships in Sub-Saharan Africa (HEP SSA) initiative for 2022–2024.
As a dedicated member of professional associations in Nigeria and internationally, Professor Abikoye actively contributes to the advancement of technology and research.
She currently leads as the Coordinator of the Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT) for the Kwara State Chapter, championing initiatives that promote gender inclusion in tech. An alumna of the University of Ilorin, her career reflects her dedication to academic excellence and impactful research.
